Umpire saves life at Chase Field

Jim Joyce, the umpire most known for the call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game on June 2, 2010, has saved the life of a food service worker suffering from a hearth attack.

Jayne Powers collapsed on Monday 90 minutes before the first pitch of the Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miami Marlins. Jim Joyce began giving CPR and was later helped by former firefighter and paramedic and now bullpen catcher Jeff Urgelles. Paramedics arrived minutes later and took over. In hospital the condition of Jayne Powers improved. Joyce and Urgelles were honored in a brief ceremony on Wednesday evening.
